Mannitol
Mannitol is a non-hygroscopic sugar alcohol. It has 50–60% the sweetness of sucrose, zero glycemic index, and no cariogenic potential. It features good chemical stability and antioxidant properties.
Application Fields
Used as an osmotic diuretic and dehydrating agent. Applied in reducing intracranial pressure, lowering intraocular pressure, and promoting toxin excretion. Also serves as a tablet diluent, filler, and lyoprotectant for proteins and vaccines.
Used in sugar-free chewing gum, candies, and chocolate as a sweetener and anti-sticking agent. Improves texture and enhances surface hardness of frozen desserts.
Utilized in the production of rigid polyurethane foams, emulsifiers, and plasticizers. Also applied in the manufacture of rosin esters and synthetic resins.
